POULTRY FEEDS
Poultry feeds are formulated to meet the nutritional needs of birds at different stages of growth. There are three main types based on age: *starter feed, **grower feed, and **layer or finisher feed. *Starter feed is high in protein (typically 18-22%) to support rapid growth in chicks during their first few weeks. Grower feed has a moderate protein level (15-18%) and is given to juvenile birds to sustain steady development without excessive weight gain. For egg-laying hens, layer feed is rich in calcium and essential nutrients to promote strong eggshells and consistent egg production. Meanwhile, finisher feed is used for broilers to maximize weight gain before processing. Providing age-appropriate feed is essential for poultry health and productivity.
